Meet Steve and Ellen

After graduating from Juniata College and completing his apprenticeship with his father, Steve moved to Dover, Delaware and with his wife, Ellen, opened a Baldwin piano and organ franchise.  After five years, Woodworth Piano and Organ Center was sold and Steve went into full time piano service.  Fast forward 35 years and you’ll find Steve continuing a fine tradition of technical expertise having honed his skills servicing thousands of pianos in the central Delaware/Eastern Shore areas.

Steve and Ellen lived most of those years in Kenton, Delaware.  They have 4 daughters and 6 grandkids that keep them hopping.  Both Steve and Ellen were very active in music and church work at Calvary Church in Dover, where Steve was choir director and musical director of the church’s well known Christmas and Easter productions.

In 2019, they moved north, closer to those grandkids, but Steve still services the pianos in the central Delaware/Eastern Shore areas.

Meet Phil and Robin

Phil trained extensively at the side of his father from the age of 14.  At the age of 22, upon graduation from Juniata College with a major in music, he took and passed the test administered by The Piano Technicians Guild, and became a registered tuner/technician or RTT.  Two years later Phil was hired, sight unseen, on references only, by Thayer Piano Company, the Steinway dealer in Honolulu, Hawaii, as shop foreman and head  piano technician.  After the passing of his father, Phil returned to Pennsylvania to take over the family business and has been maintaining the pianos in over 1500 homes, churches and schools for the past 40 years.

Phil and Robin, his wife beyond compare, secretary extraordinaire, mother of their 7 children and with whom you will have the pleasure of speaking when you call for an appointment, currently reside in the Garnet Valley area of Southeast Pennsylvania. They attend Brandywine Valley Baptist Church in Wilmington, Delaware.

Meet Grant

The third generation of Woodworth Piano Service has arrived. Sixth child of Phil and Robin, Grant joined the family business in 2018 after graduating from Temple University with a degree in advertising. He still lives in Philadelphia in the Fishtown neighborhood and continues to build a piano service clientele both in the city and surrounding suburbs.  On Sundays you might find him helping out with the worship team at his church, Liberti East.  When not tuning in the field, he spends regular time doing piano restoration work in the WPS shop, helping move pianos, and continuing to learn from the bosses.
